"like a wise man who built his house on rock...like a fool who built his house on sand" - Matthew 7:24,26
Gospel reading : Matthew 7:21-29
I was a young girl when the story of the wise man and the foolish man was introduced to me. It was taught by our elementary teacher through a song. Back then, I thought it was just a case of common sense and I was amused by the foolish man because it really was foolish to build your house on sand. That was many years ago.
Now, as I reflect more and more about the verse, I thank God that the song has become more meaningful to me now. Not only was these the words of Jesus Christ, but as growing Christians, it is a reminder that we should build our lives not just physically on steady ground but spiritually on firm foundation, on the Rock of salvation. Man and nature can take the temporary things away from us but if our faith is rooted on God's love and promises, the temporary things will not even matter anymore. God will provide and God will save.
Lord God, thank You for being the strength of our lives. Thank You for reminding us that we should take root and shelter in your love and promises. We ask that You give us wisdom in our daily lives and to always look to You for comfort and guidance. This we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
